♫ Santa Claus is coming to town ♪ He better bring a torch, it's dark!
Another week has gone. I bought horrid expensive train tickets to Övik (the spell check suggest 'Viking') to spend Christmas with my folks. I also bought more cutlery and some Christmas gifts. December is expensive.
Jenny and P-ter came over for dinner and games this Saturday and the games turned out to be laying puzzles and chatting. It was really nice, I missed puzzles, I just didn't realize it. Sunday I was gonna work some overtime but when I got out I remembered my bike had a flat tire so I went back up and spent the whole day in the sofa watching House MD season two. It was great. I also didn't eat any chocolate all day although I couldn't stop thinking about it. I have a box in the pantry that I got for my actors for our final meeting before Christmas. All day the chocolate was on my mind and all day I had fruit instead. Perhaps I've finally grown some discipline.
It's still a typical Linköping winter, wind, rain, really dark, no snow what so ever and not very cold. When I get up and go to work in the morning it's dark. When I go home in the afternoon it's dark. At least up north the snow will help brighten the long nights, but damp grass and wet asphalt doesn't do the trick so Linköping is gloomy and a bit depressing right now. In two weeks Christmas will be over and the light will be returning. Now that's a cheery thought.

*hug*
The picture in this post I got in a chat message, this morning. *smiles*And now back to the real world: It's Monday morning and the weekend is over but I'm pleased to report that I did manage to have a good time. I also managed to clean my apartment and do some Christmas decorations. Yay for me! So if anyone is interested in checking out my place and having some glögg you should get in touch soon, before it clutters up again. I might even manage a board game evening or something, if that sounds like fun. I also heard this weekend that my cooking can be good, so there might be dinner involved.

Spex trial performance and a nice evening
The first snow has come and gone again, but for a few days at least there was a bit of winter.
During this short period we had the trial performance of spex08 and a lot of stuff went well. A lot didn't and this is where everyone laughed the most. The jaded audiance of old spexare are a tough crowd to please, mostly when something is good they'll nod a bit to themselvs and make a note in their papers saying "good". But there were a lot of laughs. Not as many as when I watched the recording with the actors on Tuesday, cause then we laughed till we cried and our bellys hurt. Now the spex will be a bit less demanding for a few weeks and will pick up pace with a vengeance after new year.
Yesterday I had fika at Chocolat with Mats and then we went shopping for Christmas gifts with little success. I did find some stuff for myself though: more Hardanger Nora cutlery, two tops at Gina Trico, fancy sheep milk cheese at Norins Ost and some stuff to cook for dinner at Lucullus. We made lamb burgers with tzatsiki (here the spelling help suggests 'goatskins') and it was delicious! After dinner we washed up and spent two hours in the sofa, watching crap on TV. It was a very nice evening. I should try and have more of those.

Busy weekend aka back to normal
And after a while things sort themselves out and return to normal, perhaps even with an added perk.
It's been a busy weekend, rehearsing my actors and visiting Jenny D. She had her birthday last week but was in London - shopping lovely stuff - so this was a chance to give her a gift. Me and AC got her a gift certificate at on of the local cloth-shops and made our own card to go with it. We had a lovely evening at Jenny and P-ters place, they have a house in the country, eating dinner, playing board games and eating seven kinds of cake. We took the bus there, four of us, and spent a lot of time trying to look out the grubby windows and figuring out if the next stop was ours or not. Finally a girl who stepped of told us that the next stop was the one she wanted. I guess we had been talking kind of loud, me, AC, Jocke and eM.
I got home at half past nine and went to bed at once, played an hour of Zelda the Phantom Hourglass on my DS and drifted off to worried sleep. I woke up a lot of times, with nervous dreams of rehearsals and the upcoming stage rehearsal next Sunday. I guess the spex is really on my mind lately. After rehearsing Saturday and Sunday we're gonna rehearse today and tomorrow too, four days running! Everyone is really doing a good job though, both with the scenes but also with keeping spirits up, so I think it'll turn out fine! It'll be the first time someone else sees and evaluates my work though, so I'm nervous anyway.
Well, I better get back to work and do my best to finish of this subsystem. I'm already past the deadline and it's not going as well as I had hoped.

♫ Time, time, time ♪
My busy life makes time go by very fast, but when I look back at it it feels like days and days have gone by when it's only been one. I find myself thinking I haven't done that since Saturday, oh wait, that was yesterday. I've always been fascinated by how we perceive time and I read some mystical explanation somewhere that time is something we invented to keep stuff from happening at the same time. So obviously, when you do a lot off stuff, you get extra time to keep it all separate, which explains how so many days can pass for me between Saturday and Sunday.
I wonder what the long term effects are of superliving like this, will I grow old quicker and suffer dementia soon or will the extra time keep my brain going longer? Is it time that makes us work and when we stop needing time to separate things, due to not doing much, is that when it all clogs up and become useless?
Hopefully I can return with a report from the front of temporal disturbance and let you know how it's going, but if this is my last post, than I probably fell over into the twilight zone, or possibly a Star Trek episode.
PS. The title is a quote from a Simon&Garfunkel song (or at least Paul Simon wrote it) although I like the cover the Bangles made better. It's called A Hazy shade of Winter which might soon be even more true since mornings are getting colder every day (or in my case every few days).
